Using Annotation Templates

Map 3D 2018, Win7

I'm missing a very basic step in the process of using annotation templates to extract object data and create a label from it.

I connected our GIS using a WFS connection. I want to label the features. I can create a template. In the block editor I use the Edit Annotation Text command to define my label. This is where I get lost.

I don't see anyplace to specify which features I am trying to label. I don't see the object data listed in the fields I can have labeled - only Properties and Object Properties.

What am I missing? Where do I tell it that I want to label parcels (or sewer manholes, or water mains, or whatever I want), to get the parcel data (it shows up in the data table), and label the fields I select. For example:

Owner

Address

Parcel No.

Annotations is for regular Cad objects, which have object data attached not for labeling feature object coming from FDO connection.

Using annotations you can label cad objects with object data attached.

When you using data connection and WFS service then you just need to add style for those objects not annotations.

You find style button  in Task pane.

Click on you desired layer in display manager and push the Style button.

David as Kajar stated you are getting the two methods mixed up , if you connected to the data you need to create a style to label with an expression.

That should point you to what you want once you get into the style editor.

resurrecting this topic ...

Murph's link in the post above this one is no longer valid. Can someone point me to a page that describes how to link to parcel data and add labels using styles?
