Scale Bar issues

Hi Everybody,

When I insert a built in scale bar to the layout, the divison value and unit value are missing, if the scale bat has a hatch, the hatch will be huge.

It happens only to one dwg file. I have tried to reset settings to default. didnt  work.

I am using AutoCAD Map 3D 2018.

Can someone help?

Hi @Anonymous,

welcome to Autodesk Forum.

There could be several reasons causing this behavior.

If it is only in one DWG it might be related to the Units set to the DWG.

Please type command _DWGUNITS and check if it is set to Meter.

If that not help, is it possible to send the DWG for further testing?

Kind regards

Brigitte

It's the scale bar hatching that's not scaled correctly, if you zoom extents, you'l see this:

If you are using the built-in scale bars available in the ribbon then you must insert them properly.

  1. Determine the viewport scale you want to use BEFORE inserting the scale bar.
  2. In the Scale Bar Properties dialog window, change the UNITS using the dropdown. Use mm or cm , not meters. Image 1. Use mm or cm. A single hatch entity is considered one division.Image 1. Use mm or cm. A single hatch entity is considered one division.
  3. The Scale ratio should be identical to your viewport ratio. Your VP scale is on bottom right, by the clock. Image 2.Image 2.

Thanks fou your fast reply, ChicacoLooper!

Nót working in Meters in an AutoCAD MAP environment?

It works, you're method:Scale bar hatching in Centimeters.png

But I can't come up with centimeters, with scales up to 1 : 100 000!

And why can't we use the Meters and Kilometers if it's in the selection:

OK, make your settings like this:

Metric template. Sheet size=A3.Metric template. Sheet size=A3.

That's what I'm experiencing but what to do about it? I can't see any properties to adjust it.

Select the scale bar, go to Block Editor and change in the properties the units

Thanks for the solution Tony. For some reason, out of the box, my Civil 3D scale bars had their units set to cm, not m. My hatching was way out of proportion. Changing it to cm fixed it.

If anyone else gets stuck on where to change the units, it's here when you first open the block editor:

I did exactly as describe, but my scalebar is still the same size (huge). It also seems to change my viewport, even if its locked! I have no idea what to do. My suspicion was, that I hadn't set the scale of my model correct, but that seems to be ok. On another layout with the same model, I did notice, that my model was scaled back up to match the huge scalebar and that I could manually adjust the viewport back to where I originally wanted to have it and then the scalebar was correct.
