Units and blocks scaling questions

Hello guys,

I have a couple of questions on the different types of units that can be set in AutoCad Map 3D and how they influence the block insertion:

- if we have blocks that have units set to inches for example, and we insert this blocks into a drawing that has set the INSUNITS as meters, are the inches being converted to meters for the insertion? If we go a bit further and we set the drawing units (DWGUNITS) as centimeters, then how will the insertion of this block be affected?

- same as above, but we now also assign a coordinate system in meters to the drawing. Will the units of the coordinate system override the drawing units? Or they are independent from each other?

Thank you very much in advance

Kind regards,

Simona

Hi,

Generic answer 1 about your question "what happens when" and having 3 different settings for INSUNITS, inside -DWGUNITS and having a coordinate system selected:
If you have 3 different units set then you have at least 2 incorrect settings. Make sure all are equal as this is the only valid way to work with drawings based on geographic coordinate systems.

Generic answer 2: You might use command -DWGUNITS to set a flag to disable the units-scaling for your current dwg-file.
