Unique symbols assigned to points

I'm looking for a method for where I can assign a specific custom symbol to a number of imported points and only those points.  As well as doing similar to multiple sets of points with varying custom symbols.   Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks^^

Yes, we need to know for which format.
If dwg, then it's easier to lisp. For example:
FRTO.

definitely dwg, 2D, the symbol itself can be whatever it needs to be.  Normally i just draw it manually and copy and past it around.    the points are just standard GIS stations that were extracted from a db via shape and imported into cad.

do the points have attached attributes, such as OBJECT DATA, identifying which symbol goes to which points?

most definitely, nothing i see that represents image.  I can adjust my points via ddptype but that does them all and with a limited symbol.

if you can post the data it would be most helpful

Use QSELECT to select the layer with points, copy and paste that data into a new dwg, save the dwg and post it.

...FRTO why you don't like it...

You write what the replacement criteria points. On the basis of data obtained from the import? Then it is better to import Object Data.

Import points as blocks, join them in a Object Data with the right information.

Import_points.png
Tools Map to display the points in the desired blocks: MAPWSPACE -- Task pane -- Display manager --...

Vicky,

I think Alexander is on to something. You can also <<<Replace Survey Points With Blocks>>>. Kinda depends on the Format of your Data.(Shapefile, XML, ASCII, DXF, CSV....)

Hi,

here a screencast to show how you could use Object Data to add info on blocks and use this info to create a thematic analysis to change block display.
