Undo setting of draworder in display manager of taskplane

If I change the draworder of layer in taskplane  > display manager > draworder tab AutoCAD Map 3D ask me this (I tried to translate the german menue text):

screenshot2.jpg

If I choose option 1 the draw order is set by draw order tab.
I want to undo this decision (option 1):
How can I achieve that the draw order is set by groups tab?

Regards

I believe you reverse the option by using DMUI_MAPREGISTERCMDSCMD

There is no menu to visually confirm what you're doing though.
I confirmed it by swapping back to the draw order screen. Then I swapped a layer and it gave me the same option like you have again.

I don't know if anyone can confirm this.

Michiel,

thanks for your help.

But I had no success:

- I entered DMUI_MAPREGISTERCMDSCMD in command window. Nothing happens.

- If I go back to draw order tab and change the display order - but the dialog does not show again!

I use M3D 2016.

Regards

select the groups tab.  the layers should shuffle to the groups order,  select the draw order tab and the layers will reshuffle.  works that way with M3D 2017

Thanks to all who try to help.

The lasts days I did some tests:

I used shapefile and save the map as dwg.
I used oracle based enterprise model and save the map as a display modell.

In both cases:
The first time I switch to DRAW ORDER tab and change the draw order AutoCAD Map 3D SP2 ask me this:

dialog.jpg

If I chose option 1 (set draw oders by DRAW ORDER tab) then M3D never (!) ask me again (using the same dwg/display model).

I assumed that there is a possibility to make my choice undone (via _options ?). But it appears that the dialog is newer shown a second time!?

Hello @swt-gis

I reproduced the behavior with a new DWG file and connected Shapefiles via FDO. I checked the system variables and the options. Unforntunately I have to tell you, that I didnt see any differences.

I will give you an overview about what I checked:

1) non successfull - compare system variables 1

  • use the command SYSVDLG to get the list of all system variables
  • new window "System variables appears"
  • save all system variables in a svf file before and after changing the draw order
  • Compare them with an corresponding tool

2) non successfull - compare system variables 2

  • use the command SYSVARMONITOR to open the System variables monitor
  • the monitor shows you when system variables are changed

Furthermore I created one DWG/DXF file "before" and one DWG file "after" to compare the options and the files itself.

3) non sucessful - compared the OPTIONS

  • I saved a DWG file before and after changing the draw order
  • I compared the options (DWG before, DWG after) on two monitors to see the differences

4) non sucessful - compare the DWG

  • binary, you can not compare

But there are another options you can try:

5) Compare the DXF

  • they are non binary and you can check if the information is stored there
  • create a DXF file before and after you changed the draw order
  • compare them with corresponding software

6) After I selected the option Continue action and allow Draw Ordner to control layer position from now on, I was able to press Undo to undo my choice.
The popup window appeared again.

7) Create a new DWG/Project with the default draw order

Please let me know if this solved your issue. If so please dont hesitate to mark this post as solution or let me know if you need any additional help.

avoid the problem by using maps

get your default map in the draw order you want. save the dwg.  copy all the fdo layers.  create a new map (map button (karten) in display manager),  paste the layers into display manager, remove any layers not needed in a map, or add others,  and rearrange the draw order, and save the dwg.

when a different draw order is needed select the map from the drop down list in display manager.  this allows one to easily change the display of the data

also save .layer files for different styles for different maps for future use

Hello @swt-gis

There is no way to undo the previous configuration unless you have saved it.

More detailed this means:

If you do not save the current status (as a Display Model or DWG) before changing the draw order, you will not be asked again.

For industry models the configuration is saved in a display model (a folder of .layer files).  You can save different versions of this and then go back to a previous version.

For the drawing file implementation the configuration is saved in the drawing file.  You can save the drawing as a template but have to keep several versions of the template or drawing if you want to go back to a previous configuration.

Please let me know if this answered your question. If so please dont hesitate to mark this post as solution or let me know if you need any additional help.

Best regards,

Thomas
