Unable to snap to center of object

How do I select/snap the center of this object?

It is a rectangle with fillets.

I have Snap and Grid > Snap On unchecked, Object Snap > Object Snap > Center checked, and 3D Object Snap On unchecked.

Following these instructions I cannot get it to happen

Polylines do not have a "center" point. Use the _gcen object snap (Geometric Center)

Command: ._line
Specify first point: _gcen of
Specify next point or [Undo]:

M2P is not a command, it's a command modifier.

You don't need it though, use the _gcen object snap.

This draws a line. I do not another line. I want to select the center of the object. If I select the object and then shift-right click, I get a menu that has Geometric Center on it. Selecting this gives "Unknown command "GCEN"

@john_daues  - you said "How do I select/snap the center of this object?"

That is how you do it.

The line was just an example, if you don't want to draw anything from this point then what do you want to do with it? Just ID this point?

Same process. Run the ID command, _gcen object snap. You can't run _gcen or M2P as a command. That's not how it works.

Finally figured it out.. jesus

click object, move it, then shift right click geo drag your object to the edge and once you see the geo-centre flash left click and snap baby.

have also got a macro key so when i select and object and move it hitting the macro key GCEN+enter activates geo centre and i can bring the object to the edge and snap it to the centre.

Horray... 1yr later i finally know how to use GCEN
