Saving PostgreSQL database connection details

I can't find the command/dialog to save PostgreSQL connection details. I assumed that would be part of a layer definition, but the only thing that shows up there is a reference to the name of the connection in the current drawing file (e.g., "PostgreSQL_1"). When I start a new drawing file, there's no "PostgreSQL_1" connection. Surely there's a way to store named PostgreSQL connections independent of specific drawing files, isn't there?

Based on zero response on this site and from Autodesk Case #19173779 for this issue, I have to conclude that it is not possible to save named database connections in either AutoCAD or AutoCAD Map 3D. They apparently have to be saved in a named drawing file. Disappointing, but I'm more disappointed with Autodesk's non-response, since I have a subscription. It's a lot like Esri's "support" when you bring up embarrassing questions: ignore it and it will go away.
