We are attempting to take Trimble Terrasync - acquired GIS points, and then somehow export the data into an AutoCAD DWG file. (Might need Civil3D?) We are starting from scratch with this effort. Not sure where to start, or figure out the process required in between “start” and “finish.”
Any advice on pointing us in the right direction for learning how to obtain our objective?
Thanks – and all the best,
Mark

Hi Mark,
In what format is your data? For pretty much any GIS format you'll need Map 3D or Civil 3D. If Terrasync can export in DXF format, you can use Vanilla AutoCAD.
What is the end result? What do you want your deliverable to look like?

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply. It appears that I first need to find out specifically what format the data exists as. It was collected back in 2016. After that, I'll move forward from there per your response.
Best wishes,
Mark
Hi @marksyates
Great question but it would greater if you asked ‘What formats can Terrasync export to?’
The format you choose to ‘export to’ should be a format that AutoCAD Map3D can import to modelspace. FYI, Map3D is capable of importing the formats shown in the image below.
If you want to display field collected points then two appropriate point formats are ASCII (csv and txt extensions) and ESRI shapefile.
Once you’ve exported properly from Terrasync then you can use MAPIMPORT command to import to Map3D. The MapImport command can be executed from either Map3D or Civil3D. .
