Problems removing AEC proxy objects

Hello,

I work for a utility company that utilizes 2009 AUD & various versions of Autocad. Most of the time I receive base maps prepared from our drafting department which uses Autocad 2010 these base maps are being imported to AUD.

The problems I have been encountering with the base maps is that there are AEC proxy objects embedded in the file. I have been cleaning up these files by opening them in 2014 M3D performing -pu, saving the file to 2013 and aectoacad before I import them to the AUD environment.

Most of the time I am able to clean up these files. But there are times when I perform the aectoacad I get this message "Command not allowed because drawing contains objects from a newer version of this application." I have tried wblocking it, dxf etc. nothing works.

Can anyone provide any suggestions.

Thank you,

Mark

Look at DWG Trueview - it's free and can do file version conversions as well as convert AEC to AutoCAD.

Warren thank you for the suggestion. But with all the safety protocols in place with our company I wouldn’t be able to download Trueview.

You need to figure out how to get the latest 2018 version of the DWGTRUEVIEW for the task: there is nothing you can do on your won with your software otherwise. Sorry.

Go talk to the next person up the command chain.

Unfortunately our IT department has only approved 2016 Trueview to be installed since they have to test all the Autodesk applications. It might take our IT department another 2 years to approve 2018 Trueview by that time everyone will be using 2021 Autocad. 😃

I have worked with our customers and consultants that utilizes 2018 Autocad. I have them go thru the process of exploding, exporting to acad, wblocking, and saving down the files and still at 2007 version the AEC objects are still associated in the file. Autodaesk should have a better solution for this problem.
