Merge and Export to Shapefile

Merge and Export to Shapefile

Hi, I'm using AutoCad Map 3D 2019. My knowledge of AutoCAD is very weak so please excuse me in advance for my lack of understanding.

I have hundreds of separate DWG files that make up parcels of land inside of a county. I would like to be able to merge each of these DWG files into one and export them as a shapefile. I have tried to use the XREF command and then export to shapefile, however when I open the exported shapefile it has only exported the original DWG and not the XREF's. The same thing happens if I Bind or insert the XREF's. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've exhausted everything I can fathom to get this to work and I'm done trying to figure this out on my own. I feel like there has to be a simple answer to this problem.

Thanks,

DB

Provided all the maps have a geo-coordinate system

On Task Pane

Map Explore  tab  attach the drawing(s) and set the current query to location:all and draw and execute the query

the data will be drawn into the map, save often as you go. detach dwgs after you have queried what you need and before you attached other dwgs.

You may be able to query by layer property(ies) and change properties to get the data in order as you need it.

after you can mapexport to the .shp

Hi, DB,

You could insert XREFS using INSERT with explode. But it's long.

Perhaps the best way to merging a lot of dwg into one is through MAPWSPACE, attaching all the necessary dwg and inserting them through a query.
(Sorry, that now I only have Russian AutoCAD).
1. Open the Task Pane window with the MAPWSPACE command.
2. In the Map Explorer tab attach all the necessary dwg (right cliсk).

3. Create and run a query on the entire contents of these dwg.

4. Detach all connected dwg.

- I was going to answer for too long. Smiley Very Happy
