MapConnect to SHP data from Natural Resources Canada

Hi,

I've downloaded data from Natural Resources Canada, and was trying to connect to it using the MapConnect feature.

When I click on the 'Add to Map' button, it instantly unchecks the SHP and does nothing else.

Not sure what else I can do after this.

If I use MapImport it imports without any issues, which would suggest that the data is intact / correct.

Here's a link to the download:

http://geogratis.gc.ca/api/en/nrcan-rncan/ess-sst/-/(urn:iso:series)canvec?sort-field=relevance (Lakes and Rivers)

I'm using Civil 3D 2015.

If anyone has any ideas about this, I'd be very grateful as I'm at a bit of a loss.

Thanks

Went to this  Download folder for files in SHP format

& downloaded this  http://ftp.geogratis.gc.ca/pub/nrcan_rncan/vector/canvec/shp/Hydro/canvec_1M_CA_Hydro_shp.zip

unzipped it and it works fine with map3d 2017,  dragged and dropped +/or data connect

RW,

The Canadian GIS stuff mostly uses the CSRS Datum. Here's a typical PRJ file:

GEOGCS["GCS_North_American_1983_CSRS98",DATUM["D_North_American_1983_CSRS98",SPHEROID["GRS_1980",6378137,298.257222101]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0],UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199432955]]

Do you have version 2 of the Canadian National Transformation? Instructions here:

Hi,

usually Map provides an error message if adding data to the drawing fails.

The message might not pop up - check the warning triangle placed in the drawing status bar.

When I add the files to a drawing with a different coordinate system (using a local non canadian one) Map gives an error message along the lines "can't convert between these two coordinate systems". But the files appear as layers in Display Manager (but no features are displayed in drawing area) . But you said nothing happens when you add the files?

I did, but be careful of the CS as Dave S states.  I dropped into a blank map dwg which set the CS from the prj file.  If the CS is set first in the map the data may not land in the right place on your map.

All I really did is to verify the data was good to use and not defective
