Map 3D 2018 and 2016 slow performance on using PostgreSQL

Hello Map 3D Users,

I am connecting my Autocap to a PostgreSQL database, although for some computers in my office it is really slow when I try to move and edit features. I have already tried to deactivate the schemas at _Mapoptions. I tried to simply the windows appearance, use Map 3D 2016 (which seems to be a bit better than then 2018), but nothing really seems to solve my problem.

Some of the people have slow performance computers and they seem to have better results than folks with high-end computers.

I am trying to attach a video to explain better what is happening.

Will really appreciate any insides to this issue.

Thanks!

Until 2017, to accelerate Autocad advised to disable Hardware acceleration - the command GRAPHICSCONFIG, Off.
Could this be the same for 2017-2018?

Hello,

Thanks for your response, but it did not work. it is still very slow when I select, edit or move any line or point of my GIS database.

Does anyone have any other suggestion?

Thank you!

Hi @Eliasgalvan,

from the description I understand that editing data from PostGreSql db is slow.

With a short test it work in my environment Windows 10 / AutoCAD Map 2018.

We can have different causes for this behavior - network, amount of data, I suggest narrow it down.

What version of PostGreSql/PostGIS do we have.

Is the DB installed on Server or at the same client as AutoCAD Map?

Please also check the settings in _MAPFEATUREEDITOPTIONS

_MAPFEATUREEDITOPTIONS.png

If you like send me the backup of PostGres data and I check with my installation.

FYI: please check that the updates for AutoCAD AND AutoCAD Map has been installed.

Run command _ABOUT

I have same problem with 2018 MAP 3d, I have reported it also some time ago and  there were no good solution from Autodesk how to increase the editing performance. I use Postgres 9.6/Postgis 2.1.

This issue is actually real pain, first time you check out features takes lot of time, second time is better but not good.

Also it depends how big is the table where data is stored.

When I convert same data to SQlite, then editing have much better performance.

I don't really know its a version issue, because some people in my office use the same software, same db and haven't had the same issue.

Kajar,

we are using PostGreSQL 10.

Something I noticed related to this problem is that when I start a new drawing (clean template) it goes fast, with hours of use starts to slow down. I also noticed some difference between having a local copy and copy on the server.

Maybe it's a cache problem?

Wil keep you all posted.

Thank you!
