Map 2011 - can't deselect an object when I click on the escape button

When I open AutoCAD map and work for while on it, for some reason it stops deselecting an object/s when I push the escape button on my keyboard, I have also noticed that when this happens when I highlight a specfic object and try move it to another layer it won't do that either. Is it a setting on my AutoCAD or a problem with 2011 Map I haven't experienced this with MAP 2010. I have also downloaded all that can be dowloaded on the Autodesk website.

I have the same problem with MAP 2011
After a few minutes, escape stop working.
If a select an object had ask for it's properties, I get "No Selection" in the properties tab.

There as been a thread in the AutoCAD section about this problem.

I have not been able to figure if it was a specific command that provoqued the problem but it will always eventually happen (I can work from 5 minutes to 1 hour before it happens).

I don't have to completly close AutoCAD to make it work again. I save my DWG, close it and reopen it and everything is back to normal.

I have been having this problem with AutoCAD 2011.
I have tried it several days without loading the MdiTabs - and I haven't had
a problem.
I'm not sure if that is it or not.

I have the exact same problem. The escape button doesn't work anymore, I can't put items in another layer and the command draworder has no effect at all. Closing the drawing helps, but after 15 minutes or so, the problems start again.

what are the mdi tabs?

Midi tabs are an Autodesk Labs addon that gives you excel-like tabs for each drawing you have open (see attached).

http://labs.autodesk.com/

However, I have tried both with and without tabs and still get the problem after 5-10 minutes. At least it rules this out!!

It is a real pain and causing me huge problems, as the drawings have to be re opened each time - which on large drawings can take a while, especially when you have to do this every 5-10 minutes.

Is there a fix yet Autodesk?????

I believe this falls along the same lines as the issue in http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=773482&tstart=15 thread.

but once again, i dont believe autodesk reads these forums. You will need to enter a support ticket through your subscription to make them aware of the problem.

How can we do that?

Well, you need to determine if you purchase your autodesk products through subscription.

If so you need to find out what your reseller has set your username and password too.

From there, go to http://subscription.autodesk.com

There are many sections in the subscription. You can download software or addons for subscription customers only. There is also a support section that you can submit tickets with issues you have with the software.

I would think that this issue would be the highest of the severity options.

Resellers do not set those, the Autodesk Business center provides that
information to the contract holder/administrator via email. Most of the time
its who ever has their name on the sale order.

Thanks for the correction Murph.

I now see the email was forwarded from an autodesk email with my user name information.

: ) That's alright. I get one or two call a month from users wanting me to
reset their password or look it up for them for their subscription center
site.

Hi,

there is discussion going on in the AutoCAD forum about this issue as it occurs in plain AC as well – please have a look there for further details. The issue is currently investigated by Autodesk.
