Loading Large Imagery Locks Up AutoCAD Map 3D 2015 (Not Responding)

I'm guessing this is a universal problem with CAD users but, it seems to have gotten worse through the years

of version upgrades..Loading FSA imagery, sizes 400 MB to 1.5 GB, sometime takes forever to load or locks up things to

a standstill.

I've found that zooming out to the image's extents before loading helps but sometimes a person forgets to do that,

then you are stuck again and have to reboot to release it.  Time waster when you're under the gun.

Is there a fix for this?

Is Autodesk trying to solve this in any way? Currently running Map 3D 2015. Plenty of RAM on my computer.

Thanks.

Hi,

>> Loading FSA imagery

How did you load the images?

Where are these image-files stored/queried from?

What are your system info's (operating system, memory, processor, graphic card)?

Hello

1) Which SP on your MAP 2015 ?

2) Images are inserted with MAPIINSERT or with the FDO Raster driver ?

3) Which total size off all your images ?

4) How much memory on your PC ?

5) MAPIOPTIONS: what are your current parameters ?

SP, service pack?, there are none installed for my MAP 2015 right now. I see there is a SP 3 out there.
I usually use MAPINSERT.
Have 16 GB of memory.
Allowed to use 12288 MB

Hi,

>> with Intel (R) HD Graphics 530 card

Sorry to say, that is not a CAD graphic card at all.

>> SP, service pack?, there are none installed for my MAP 2015 right now. I see there is a SP 3 out there

Then you should install it.

Have you tried cleaning out your TEMP files?  I've found that that can help sometimes.  Also, does it make a difference if you load the images from your local drive instead of over a network?

Hi,

>> Any suggestions for a CAD graphic card?

I love nVidia GTX >= 970, some are more on the side of nVidia Quadro.
I'm not that big fan about AMD/ATI, so I don't know which products are well for AutoCAD.
