Good Afternoon,
I need help please. I have been searching the discussion groups and knowledge base and I can't seem to find what I am looking for. I have a SHP file that I am inserting into a DWG. This SHP file is made up of points that represent manholes. I want to bring these in as blocks and have the information in the object data table be automatically placed in the coordinating block attributes, as this information must be available to users in standard AutoCAD. I am under the impression it is possible but I must be missing something. Here is what I have done:
-I have created a block that has attribute tags that are named the same as the fields in the object data table. This is saved in my desired DWG.
-I have used the MAPIMPORT command and selected the SHP file.
-In the dialog box that appears, under POINTS, I select the block I created. Under DATA, I select Create Object Data. And click OK.
-This creates all my points as blocks and includes the object data but does not place any of the information in my Block Attributes.
-Opening this DWG file in standard AutoCAD eliminates any object data.
I have read that there are ways to annotate these blocks with text, but I am trying to comply with our clients standards which require blocks with attributes that can be seen in standard AutoCAD.
Does anyone know of a way I can do this? Please keep in mind that I am a novice at AutoCAD MAP. The version I am using is MAP 2014
Thank you
