Drawing layers stuck on map base?

Hey all, so after a bit of searching, either this isn't a topic that comes up much, or my wording is not on par with the conventional naming system of autocad and I cannot find my answer. A coworker of mine is using some data that we recorded with our trimbles over this summer to create a more accurate non-spatial version of our existing maps. We have map sections that we've put together along the project path, and then imported them into our gps-based map, and rubbersheeted the two together. This morning we came back in, and the file path had been lost, so I corrected that, and then we discovered that the (and here is where my verbiage gets a bit finnicky) non-spatial drawing layers, had been converted to the map base feature class. Not too big of an issue, but they lost all of their style properties. Our lines are all still on their correct layers, and show bylayer as the color, which is fine, but they are all white, regardless of what color the panels at the top say they are. How do I remove these objects from the map base and restore their original properties?

How did you repath/correct the paths? Did you use the Data Connect dialog box?

No, did not use data connect to import the shapefiles or rasters initially
either. I used the drag and drop method for any shapefiles, and "MAPIINSERT"
for the rasters. I did not actually change the path, it was just blocked due
to the source being on a computer that the client was not able to access
without network credentials, so I put those in and reloaded the map.

Drag and drop creates a FDO connection just like using the data connect dialog. Usually a refresh or close and open the dwg after you correct the path/rights fixes it. If you select one of the features is it still a Map Feature?

Hi,

if nothing Special has happend in your Directory System over night, the paths to your fdo source could not be lost normally.

Also a Migration of your not spatial layers to being fdo-layers and lost their properties is not normal.

I think your drawing is damaged inside the Header Information. For a first try, Close your Map 3D and start it again with out any drawing.

Then try repair your drawing using recover.

Or you have to rebuilt the drawing using a new drawing, which could be the best Option.

Right, I understand the data is still an FDO connection, I just did not use the data connection dialogue box to do it. We tried to close and open it, and it didn't fix the issue. Yes the map features are still map features, and if I select a graphic/non-spatial object, it is still on the correct layer, and color still shows correct, it is just also under the map base feature layer, which I believe is why we are having the problem. However, we did get it somewhat fixed, we turned all map features off, and left only the drawing, we then copy-clipped the drawing to a new drawing, and it regained all of it's properties, then we copy-clipped it back to the original drawing, and the properties remained, until we closed and reopened it. Then it reverted back to the same color. It almost is behaving like an x-ref would. And we also get a message box that tells us the objects have been detached when we delete the objects, similar to an x-ref.
