Delete Map3d Feature Vertex

I see capability to insert a map feature vertex but deleting a vertex is eluding me.  I read one solution to just grip edit drop onto an adjacent vertex but that concerns me a bit.  Using that method with vanilla plines causes mis-behavior, so I always use 'remove vertex' with vanilla plines.  Thank you.  Tyler.  Map3d2019.

Hi,

>> deleting a vertex is eluding me

My way would be:

  • Check out the object
  • Select the object to get the grips
  • place the cursor above the grip (without click) and use the context menu to remove the vertex
  • check in this feature.

With polygons, I'm not seeing the context menu pop up.  Any ideas?  Thanks.  Tyler

Hi,

No problem with Map 3D 2019, if I have only 1 polygon selected, context menu is visible

But if I select more than 1 polygon, common grips don't have context menu.

Something is wonky with mine.  I have over 8000 polygons in the SDF.

Troubleshooting:

1) I started a new SDF and sure enough the context menu appeared.

2) Bulk copied 8000 polygon to new SDF.  No luck.

3) Another symptom is that object snapping fails.  Stretch a vertex using object snap and no dice.  Stretch without object snap and all is fine.

Oddly, as originally mentioned, the full feature edit command only has ADD vertex, no DELETE vertex, so I am stuck without a delete.

Any other ideas?

5) I connected the 8000 polygon SDF to fresh dwg.  No dice.

4) I checked a different 3600 Map3d Feature polygon SDF and it worked (the context menu appeared as normal).

Something is going on with the 8000 polygon SDF.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,

I've loaded a SHP file with 648096 polygons, no problem to obtain context menu on grip

image.png

Same data copy to SDF (250Mo of SDF file). No problem for context menu on vertex grip or mid grip.

Bummer.  Still no pop-up context menu for me.  It's odd that delete vertex is ONLY in a pop-up context menu.  Why was it omitted from the bona-fide feature edit command?

Tyler,
Are you first checking out the Feature as @Alfred.NESWADBA mentions in Post #2?

I'm still stumped.  The issue only occurs with a specific SDF file (see two images).  I've tried to clean up the SDF through a bulk copy.  Are there any other ways to clean up an SDF?

Does anyone else have ideas?  I'm stuck w/o being able to delete a vertex (and still puzzled why delete is not in full edit command).

Maybe for an troubleshooting idea seed, I have noticed that one vertex of each feature in all my SDFs fails to show the hover context menu.  It appears to be the origin vertex or something.

Thanks for helping.

Hi,

>> It appears to be the origin vertex or something

You might have the issue that you have 2 vertices at this location?

You can try to

  • create a new drawing
  • use command _MAPIMPORT to import the geometry (if possible as polylines, so I hope you don't have a polygonal theme with islands).
  • run command _MAPCLEAN (which can get rid of the double vertices
  • run command _MAPEXPORT to export the geometry and create a new SDF from this dataset.

Hi

You use MAPMPEDIT Command To remove vertex for MPolygon

2 vertices in one location is not likely the issue.  I have 8000 features (map feature polygons) and although I haven't checked all 8000, every single one I have checked exhibits this behavior.  Thank you.

I was excited to try MAPMPEDIT this morning, alas, I have polygons (map features) and not mpolygons.  No dice, but thanks.

Again, interesting that the analogous edit command for polygons _MAPFeatureEdit looks similar to MAPMPEDIT but missing 'remove/delete'.

Still stuck.

1. MAPIMPORT sdf as polyline you can get  context menu on vertex grip for polyline

MAPIMPORT.JPG

2.After editing the polyline , Right click on Map Feature > Select Update Feature From geometry >Select Edited Polyline

@Anonymous,

Thanks.  This will function as a viable work-around until my mysterious disappearing context menu re-appears.
