Copy Properties from Object Data

Hi,

Customer has a SHP file that have an object data.

They imported the SHP file in the Map3D using Map Import(_mapimport) to insert in the DWG.

Using this DWG to another application has no this Object data included in the geometry..

Then customer ask, how we can copy this properties from the Object Data to the object?

Regards

Tesfaye K.

Hello @tesfaye_kebede

Not sure to well understand your problem !?

You have MAPIMPORTed a SHP with Object Data into your DWG = OK ?

But you don't see them in an other AutoCAD = OK ?

If YES, ONLY AutoCAD MAP (or AutoCAD CIVIL) can see / update / create Object Data !!

Yes I know how to create the OD.

The issue is how to copy this OD attributes to the object as property?

See the example importing the DWG in Navisworks does not show this OD property.

Example I can copy the elevation value to the object geometry in (x,y,Z) value.

However there are many OD data and how can I copy all the OD into the the object property or attribute.

How can I copy the OD into the object Property?

Hello

YES Navisworks can't see Object Data !

There is a Lisp routine to send MAP Obect Data to AutoCAD XDATA ...

But IDEM, I believe that Navisworks can't see XDATAs (Please check !)

With Blocks there are routines OR MAPIMPORT Options to fill Attributes instead of creating ODs !

Do you know ?

Thank you! that was customer asking.

There is a Lisp routine to send MAP Object Data to AutoCAD XDATA ...

What is the *.Lsp file and how we get this file? Is there any documentation that customers can use?

With Blocks there are routines OR MAPIMPORT Options to fill Attributes instead of creating ODs ! Do you know ?

Do you have a workflow documentation or video the MAPIMPORT Options to fill Attributes instead of creating ODs.

The above two suggestion is the exact issue with the customer and no documentation found him.

If you send me the above asked solution documentation or Video then case is closed.

Hello @tesfaye_kebede

Please find attached a nice Lisp Routine "OD2XD" from Olivier ECKMANN which do a copy of ALL ODs to AutoCAD XDATAs !

With the AutoCAD  "XDLIST"  Command, you can select ONE Object and see the result ... Is it OK for you ?

Please let me know if Navisworks can see XDATAs !?

Helps to get the Attribute to see in the XDLIST but not imported in Navisworks

or attached to the object as attribute in the ACAD.

Hello @tesfaye_kebede

As I already said, Autodesk has NEVER improved Navisworks to read Object Data (of MAP / CIVIL) and/or XDATAs of AutoCAD : no comment !

BUT with Points XY Object with  MAPIMPORT , you can fill Attributes from an EXISTING Block ... See the french Image ... OK for you ??

Ok about the NW does not importing the Xdata.

I use extracting some features like copying the Elevation to the geometry many times (see attached image).

This time the issue from customer is copying all ODs value to the object.

Hello

If you want to "ELEVATE" Point OR 2DPlines at the Right Z / Altitude coming from a value into a numeric OD Field, you need 2 Lisp routines !

These 2 routines "OD2DXF_PNT" and "OD2DXF38" are FRENCH but I believe you will use them correctly !?

THANKS to Bruno / Bonuscad / CADASchtroumpf for the routines !!

Bye, Pat

I do not have a problem with Point elevation.

Customer ask the other properties.

Thank you for your help.

Hi @tesfaye_kebede ,

Solution to view extended properties in Navisworks is to use Property Set instead of OD.

It seem's you have Civil 3D over Map 3D, so using Property set is available.

Autodesk has published a tool (Standardized Data Tool for Civil) to sync Property Set to external database.

So first step is to export OD to CSV or Excel by request in report mode or external plug-in

Then use Data tool to link these data to fill property set of object.

Never tested but it should work.

Hi @tesfaye_kebede,
one idea might be to convert the DBF (Attributs/Meta data) from the SHP files to Excel file and connect it to the AutoCAD objects.
In AutoCAD the external Excel list can be used with command DBCONNECT to have AutoCAD objects linked to Excel entries.

From my knowledge there is no additonal functionality/process to add addtional Attribute/Meta data to AutoCAD objects - only link to ODBC sources.

Kind regards

Brigitte

Hi @tesfaye_kebede ,

Other solution is to publish to DWF with OD, and then open DWF into navisworks.

AutoCAD command named MAPDWFOPTIONS is used to choose OD you want to publish, attached to Cad entity.

Here is a little screencast of processing

Hello,

You can create labels from OD. Maybe this will help.

Allso, you can create blocks with attributes from OD
