AutoCAD Map 3D 2024 connection to SQL server not seeing data layers

After downloading and installing the Windows SQLServer ODBC drivers 17.10.2, we can connect to the SQLserver database and sign in with a view only sql account, but all we get is the top level schemas "dbo" and "guest". These cannot be expanded, to reveal any available layers.

We were able to do the connection with the previous versions of AutoCAD Map without installing any additional ODBC drivers.

Raised a support ticket with Autodesk, but they recommended that I post the issue here!

SQL connections from other products like "Global Mapper" and ERSI products still working as usual.

I can't go back to any of the previous versions of AutoCAD Map, as our IT department requires us to be on the latest supported version for security concerns.

I'm about to upgrade to 2024 also.  Did you figure this problem out.

Hi edwa8511,

No progress with the issue, quite the opposite really. Our corporate GIS (ESRI) and the associated SQL databases have been migrated to the cloud (Azure), and our IT group have locked out any direct connections to SQL from non ESRI products. So, we have organised for our Spatial team to do nightly exports of the required data sets to a network drive (soon to be migrated to azure as well) for our CAD and engineering staff to access. They are exporting the data to dwg, ESRI File geodatabase (fGDB) and ESRI shape (shp) file, so the data can be used across multiple platforms A backward step in my opinion (duplicating data), but probably a lot simpler for the end users that are not that GIS familiar.

Does the ArcGIS for AutoCAD ad-in offer any benefits for you in your setup?
