2022 mapiinsert image rendering glitchy

Using the following command:

mapiinsert

 in AutoCAD Map3D 2022.

The image places in the correct location, but renders in linear segments. They appear to be alternating upside-down, then right-side-up.

See below the image after mapiinsert (line segments), and the Map Aerial for reference from the same region of interest.

unknown.pngunknown.png
Figures: mapiinsert in Map3D_2022, versus the imagery from Map Aerial. The image appears to render incorrectly.

  • The image itself is fine. Opening in other software, it is clearly not the image (tested with Windows Photo Viewer, Rhino3D, QGIS, and other versions of AutoCAD Map3D, namely 2019 and 2021).
  • We also tried to debug any local settings which may have impacted this rendering error: drafting settings, for instance, Hardware Acceleration (tried with on and off).

We therefore believe this to be a bug in 2022. If anyone has suggestions on what might resolve this issue, besides Autodesk fixing a bug in 2022, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
If you have 2022.1.1 update try uninstalling the update. @Alfred.NESWADBA solved a similar situation that way >>>Here<<<.

What happens if you use another insertion method? Another command that’s not mapiinsert. .

Using the `attach` command yields an identically problematic result. See below:

What other image insertion / attachment methods do you recommend I try?

Thanks, just saw @Pointdump 's reply, I'll revert to the previous version of 2022.

You can also use a Data Connection. For example, you have geotiff or an image with a world file, then instead of useing MAPIINSERT you can add it using a data connection. Enter MAPCONNECT on command line and also enter MAPWSPACE to open the Data Connect Palette and the Map Task Pane. A data connection allows you to add a georeferenced image accurately and the task pane allows you to modify the image after it has been added.

This video demonstrates how to add an image which has a native GEOGRAPHIC coordinate system with units of degrees to a drawing with an assigned PROJECTED coordinate system with units in feet. The connected data, also called a Feature Data Object (FDO), in this example is raster data. The data connection is also capable of performing a TRANSFORMATION from one coordinate system to another, in this case from LL83 to Illinois State Plane. The video also shows how to adjust brightness and how to 'resample' or reduce the image to a smaller area of coverage. Resampling can also be undone so the image returns to its original size.

A georeferenced image is added to modelspace.A georeferenced image is added to modelspace.

Hi All,

I like to let you know that the team is working with high priority to solve this.

Please find the article in our AKN:

Raster images are distorted in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or AutoCAD Map 3D 2022 after installing AutoCAD 202...

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Kind regards
