Hi,
LIN-files can be anywhere on your system. When you load a new linetype you can select the LIN-file and AutoCAD then imports the line definition into the drawing, after that AutoCAD does not need to access the LIN-file any more.
But be careful: if the linetype you imported into a drawing has a definition to use symbols from a SHX-file that please recognize: the SHX-file has to be placed within a support-path, this file will be needed every time AutoCAD loades the drawing.
