Officially, it doesn't "stand for" anything. LT is simply Autodesk's designation for this scaled-down version of AutoCAD. Differences? Other than the $3000 difference in price, what you'll find missing are many of the customization options (LISP, ARX, VBA), modeling with 3D solids, and a number of other features. ___ "carmit" wrote in message news:[email protected]... > i just got the this version and wanted to know what does the LT stands for , and in what does difrent from the regular autocad?

In article <[email protected]>, [email protected] says... > i just got the this version and wanted to know what does the LT stands for , and in what does difrent from the regular autocad? > LT stands for Lap Top. A lot of people think it stands for 'Lite' but that is not true. The difference between LT and the full version of AutoCAD is that LT does not include 3d functions and does not support Lisp. John

> LT stands for Lap Top That was a new one for me. > A lot of people think it stands for 'Lite' but > that is not true. In sweden it used to be a called "Learning & Training". My favourite is "Less Trouble" As far as I know LT doesn't mean anything. Of course, I can't find any documentation now, but my recollection is also that LT originally stood for LapTop. I reviewed the first version of LT for CAD Systems (it was contemporaneous with Release 12 for Windows) and I had some documentation from the 'desk at the time. -- David Byrnes/Vancouver BC Assistant Moderator - AutoDesk Discussion Forums "Paul Turvill" wrote in message news:3ffd8545$1_2@statler... > Where is your evidence of that? > ___ > > "John Matthews" wrote in message > news:[email protected]... > > > > LT stands for Lap Top. > >

Of course not. Autodesk has always insisted that LT was simply a *designation* for the scaled-down version of AutoCAD. They have never said that it *stands for" anything. ___ "Dave Byrnes" wrote in message news:4000ae17$1_1@statler... > Of course, I can't find any documentation now,

This is true. However, according to "The Autodesk File", there once was an internal concept called "AutoCAD Lite". With similar specifications! I heard that it stood for "laptop" when I worked at Autodesk. Laptops had smaller hard disks and slow processors back in the day, so you couldn't install a full 450 MB of AutoCAD. But now... --Cy-- "Paul Turvill" wrote in message news:4006c5bc$1_2@statler... > What source is that? > ___ > > "frbe01" wrote in message > news:11779908.1074174620779.JavaMail.javamailuser@localhost... > > comes from a reliable source. > >
