Using Trim to delete a portion of a hatch pattern.

I am trying to delete the portion of a hatch pattern that is within an object that is within the pattern.

In simple terms;

I create a rectangle and fill it with a hatch pattern.

I then place a circle within this hatch pattern.

I then try and use the Trim command to delete the portion of the hatch pattern that is within the circle.

All that I seem to be able to do is delete all the pattern outside of the circle but cannot get just the portion within the circle to delete.

What am I missing here?

Try turning off hatch associativity in the properties first.

Why not draw the rectangle and circle first and then just hatch between them.

1. After choosing hatch. Right click and select "Choose Internal Point" and choose a point between the rectangle and circle.

2. Right click and now choose settings.

3. Make sure Outer is selected (See the image below)

4. Make sure Associative is NOT selected, otherwise if you delete the circle the hatching will fill the rectangle (see the highlighted area in the image below)
