Unknown dots all over drawing

I have unknown dots all over my drawing.

Whenever I copy and paste my border to another file, the dots come aswell.

I cannot see the dots in autocad nor select them.

The dots only become visible when i convert to PDF.

I have tried purging the files but the dots are still there.

I have tried unfreezing and making all layers visible but still cannot see them.

I have attached the PDF below.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Can't see any dots on that PDF. Can you create another one, but this time highlight where the dots are showing up.

Hi, They are covering the entire drawing in the background.

I can see them quite clearly on my screen but if you zoom in anywhere you should be able to see them.

Looks a lot like they get copied and pasted around the drawing as i am working but they are not visible within autocad which is confusing as if they were on a layer that isnt shown, they would'nt be able to be selected and copied like that.

Try doing a purge of the drawing. I got it down from 90MB to 6MB. 

Ignore the PDF quality, but as you can see I got no dots from using the inbuilt PDF writer after I purged your drawing.

Thanks for the file: it says there is an XREF that is missing,why not post that too?

Why are there 4-layouts with titleblocks, plus a titleblock in modelspace? Are you plotting from modelspace and simply ignoring the layouts that appear preset and ready to go? DO you even need those layouts?

As noted by others it has a lot of bloat and is needlessly and dramatically oversized at 90MB otherwise. It has content and markers from a 3rd party program called KeySCAPE, plus all of this unnecessary content:

I suspect your missing two XREF files are equally troublesome and need a good cleaning out and repair too.

No dots in any PDF I make in this file: they may reside in your XREFs if at all, and if not related to all the problems in your file(s).

Hi Guys,

I thought we had solved it but unfortunately not.

I have purged the drawing and it is now 6mb.

I PDF using "DWG to PDF" within the print menu.

I use ACADLT.ctb as the plot style.

I am printing to an A0 PDF.

I still have exactly the same dots all over the drawing.

I am using this boarder in a number of other drawings and have the same issue there so i doubt it is related to XREFs.

I dont think you have used the same plot parameters as the quality is not good enough to read the writing.

Are you plotting to a paper size of A0?

I can only see the dots when zoomed right the way in or when printed onto A0 paper.

I used the settings you left in the file, I only changed the plotter from dwf to pdf.

Why don't you save your correct plot parameters in your file, repost it, and we can all try it again.

The dots may be in the two missing images referenced in he file that were not included: or they may be the cause of the dots. Remove them and find out.

Then try third party PDF drivers to see if they replicate the issue or not.

I'm not seeing the dots either. Like @pendean, I'm wondering if the dots are coming from - or caused by - the missing XREFs. 

Just to clarify, are you seeing these dots in all PDFs that you create in AutoCAD, or is it just PDFs created from this DWG file and these XREFs? Let us know what happens when you remove those two XREFs and plot to PDF again.

You could also try using one of the AutoCAD PDF.pc3's to see if that makes a difference.
