Temporary override

I was wondering if someone could explain temporary override keyboard shortcuts to me. My expierence is that it viaries when it works and not. Holding 'Shift' for the toggle ortho mode works fine, but for example: I am in the command "Line" (I have tried it with and without selecting the first point) and I will use Shift+A ,which should be 'Object Snap Override : Endpoint', sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I can not get a clear idea as to when it works. The same goes for all the other override shortcuts. I use AutoCAD LT 2024.

@romee86PJA That override method has, on some laptop and computers, up to a 1-second lag to kick in when you press-and-hold SHIFT+A down (notice I wrote 'hold', as in you never release it until after you pick it). Works 100% of the time for me in LT2024.1.6 in Win10Pro.

I am unable to get it to never work, except when there is no endpoint to select of course.

An alternative is to just type END (for endpoint), hit <enter> then make a selection.
