Spline command change in 2012LT

I used to create splines by picking the relevant points and then setting the tangents at the start and end points. Very useful.

However, I don't seem to be able to do this.

If I select the start Tangent command while drawing the spline, the spline tends to create a massive loop. Is there a way to set it so it is created in the same manner as 2010?

(I am trying to draw a spline with 2 points (start and end on a diagonal) and then select horizontal tangents to create an S shape)

Thanks

SPLINE command

select Point 1

Select Point 2

end command

Click on Spline

Click on arrow-down that appears

Select Show Vertices

Manipulate the points to create an S.

Is this, in a nutshell, what you want to do as a final result?

It is a workaround, but not really what I was expecting.

In 2010LT, you had to select the start tangent and end tangent after finishing the Spline. Now, it doesn't ask you. It just goes from the last point. In 2012, I can state the end tangent correctly within the command line, but the start tangent doesn't work as I would expect. It wants to create a large loop when I give the start tangent.

Unfortunately I don't have 2010, but 2011, 2012 and 2013 seem to function identically: can you provide a step by step, click by click, example of how it worked in 2010 that it does not know so that I can repeat?

Playing with the CUI today and noticed a picture of what I want to do - Blend.

Used to be able to create this shape through the Spline command but it seems to get over-excited in 2014 when specifying the start Tangent within the Spline command. Very strange.

After selecting the last point, If memory serves, when you finish the command (spacebar), it proceeds to ask you for tangents. Now, you interrupt the clicking with additional commands for said tangents, but it creates a massive loop when doing the start tangent
