Snapping to points in paperspace not working

Working in paper space, AutoCAD 2018 LT (new version to me)  there's an asterisk that is at the center of the viewport that is a snap point- is this a new feature (previous version I'm familiar with is 2013)?

I never want to snap to the center of a viewport (why would I?) and have two questions: how do I eliminate this asterisk and how can I get the snap to go to the end (corner) points of the VP windows again? I have the snap setting set to "on" with endpoints checked, but it's not snapping to the corners (or end points) unless I type in the command each time I want to snap to something. Thanks for your help.

I believe the asterisk is you are referring to is the Geometric Center snap.

Try to turn it off and see if the asterisk goes away.

The endpoint snap sometimes gets lower priority than the other snaps. If you turn on too many object snaps, it is harder to snap to an endpoint. Try to turn off the Geometric Snap and see if it is easier for you to snap to an endpoint.

Hi @tor3B3UK,

That snap point in the center is a result of the Geometric Center OSNAP. If you turn that off in your OSNAP settings then all the other snaps will work like they did before.
