slow printing/plotting

Hi,

I have a problem with printing/plotting. When I open the plot windows (ctrl+P) it takes 10-15sec before it opens, if I select our plotter (canon ipf785) and select 'Preview' it takes also 20sec or longer to show the preview.

I have tried hiding the system printers, deselecting the plotting and/or publish background processing option. I also tried installing a driver of the canon ipf785 specially made for autocad, but this didn't help either. I also moved the pc3 files and made 1 new one for out plotter (canon ipf785). None of these tests solved the problem.

I reinstalled autocad but it is the same.

If I reset the settings from autocad, it is solved but only for a short period (1day).

Is there something i can do to resolve this issue?

The autocad version is Autocad LT 2018.

If you need further information do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks in advance.

If PLOT command's pop-up takes 10-15 seconds to appear, that almost always means you have dead PC3 files, dead drivers, and/or dead shortcut links in the PLOT search paths that the program has to resolve, then ignore, before it appears.

I see you tried a reset, which solves the problem, but only for the day of the reset: I wonder if the problem reappears after you restart WIndows (instead of just a 1-day deadline) and what is your system restoring that breaks it again.

Are you able to log into your PC as an all new unique user to see if the problem remains?

Thank you for you answer Pendean, sorry for the late answer.

The problem has been solved (for now). I rebooted and the problem did not return.

What i have done after my first post and the answer of Pendean:

  • I checked the  PLOT search paths,
  • recreated the .pc3 file for the plotter,
  • i also checked the dead plot/printer drivers and devices.

I will follow this up for a couple of weeks and will keep you up to date.

Thanks again for the answer
