single line text not working. Always comes up in multiline.

When I try to do a single line text, it always comes up as the multiline function. It only has occurred in one drawing so I think the original drawer must have changed a setting, but I don't know where to look.

Command: _.Text<enter>

Startpoint Textheight if needed rotation

ABC<enter>

<enter>

Select the object, run LIST command.

Press F2

Copy the line started from Command: _.text
