Settings Dialog Boxes Don't Open

Anonymous
Not applicable

When importing a PDF file, using select similar, or attempting any other action that a settings dialog box is suppose to open, it doesn't.  For example when importing a PDF; clicking the [import pdf] button brings up the file select dialog box, and I select a file which opens a box with an [open] button and after clicking [open] that dialog box closes. According the Autodesk video, this is when the import settings dialog box is suppose to open. It doesn't. I am just returned to the file I am importing to, and get "dinged" when I click anywhere within the file until, I press [Enter} and the file immediately begins to import without ever opening a dialog box allows me to select the options.  the same thing happens when I attempt to use Select Similar. I select an object and click [Select Similar] and other objects are selected without a setting box ever opening.  I apologize that my frustration has caused my to forget the opening niceties. I need help from some with more knowledge about AutoCad Lt than I have and I will be very thankful for any help you can offer.

"dinging" simply means your pop-up menu got pushed off screen: did you just unplug an external monitor or change windows display settings?

Hi,

This is a case wherein the dialog box is stuck off screen. To bring it back after you select the PDF to be imported and you don't see the next window, press alt+spacebar and then press "M" now click on the left/right arrow and move your mouse and the window will now be stuck to the mouse pointer.

I don't remember select similar working the way you have described. Select similar doesn't open up the settings when you select the object and right click and select "select similar". If you want the select similar settings the you need to first type in the command " SELECTSIMILAR" and then click on the settings from the command line to open up the settings. I hope this helps you sort out your problem. If not feel free to reply back, I will be happy to help you out.

Thank you very much vinodkl, both the solution for the dialog boxes not displaying (at least where I could see them) and the correct procedure for accessing the 'Select Similar' settings worked.
