Scales

Hi all,

I'm trying to produce a set of drawings that require different metric scales, but for some reason all the scales in the viewport scale drop down list are in imperial. I've tried going through Options - user preferences - default scale list, which gives an option to use metric or imperial but when I go back to the drawing it defaults back to imperial. I need to scale drawings at 1:1000 and 1:1250 @ A1.

Help required please!

thank you in advance

Jon

Sounds like you have used the imperial template to start the drawing or started within an existing imperial drawing, can you post the dwg file. If this is a completed drawing changing units might be problematic to explain.

I'm beginning to think that's the problem. Would it have changed when upgrading from version 2003 to 2013? Just opened some previous drawings that I know have been scaled in metric but drawn in version 2003LT, opened in current version and scale lists are in imperial!

I would doubt it, maybe way back then they were created in an imperial template and where setup with a metric paper space, it's difficult to answer without seeing the file and the various settings for units and layouts, the good news is it can all be fixed, the bad news is it's not straight forward and depends on the various settings in the drawing file.

If its a sensitive file just make a copy, draw a border in model space around the main objects so we get an idea of sizes and delete the rest and note what the size is supposed to be in metric then post that file.

For some reason, just changing from imperial to metric in user preferences doesn't hold. You have to click on the reset button to select metric and then it should change. You will have to add your scales again but that should do it.

I checked on 2015 Lt and found that you have to click on the reset button through the SCALELISTEDIT command to get the dialog box that will let you change from imperial to metric or both. Don't have 2013 on my machine anymore to check but hopefully it's the same.

I'm way back on 21012LT and it works here.

Thanks for all your help and I think I've got it sorted. Even though the drop down list of scales in the viewport scale list is all in imperial you can add them in metric, seems to have done the job.

Many thanks

Jon
