Replace/Update Xref with other name

Hy,

we have to make our planing with the up-to-date plan from the architects in background.

So I started to put the architects plan as xref in my Autocad LT. Works well but now I nee to update the xref because there is an new index from the architects.  The problem is, that these plan do not have the same name! So what can I do?

There is also no Reference-Manager in LT. Or is there another way to do this?

Greetings Felix

XREF command will bring up the "reference manager": you simply select a new source file there like this https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/Au...

Post a screenshot of the XREF command pop-up if you are still lost.

Thanks for your anther, I know that I can update Xrefs like these. But if you change the name of the Xref before. It is not possible any more.

For example: I place the reference_1.dwg in Autocad

now I want to replace the Xref with a newer version reference_2.dwg

See the attached Screencast. It shows how to replace one xref with another xref

Hey these was what I'm searching for. Thank you for your video. Maybe post it on youtube. Because I searched for 3h online and found no solution for my problem.

Hi,

The "only problem" that I see with that solution is that doesn't replace the name of XREF...

Cheers!

Thats not a problem, thats another thing.
Another Step.
If you like or need to change the xref name you can do it in the same dialog.

Note: best praxice if you are working with xrefs together with visretain or using layerfilter or layerstates is to use customnames for xrefs.
So you dont loose the connect to the layer if you change the xref to another file with another name!

And if needed you can attach the same file as two different xref, with individual layerproperties.

I wish to set the xrefname directly in xref attach process since i am using xrefs,
but adesk think you have to attach them with the predefine xrefname (= file name) and edit them later. Stupid workflow.

Sebastian
