"One or more SHX files are missing"

In regards to user experiencing the issue: "One or more SHX files are missing" whenever the user opens a ".DWG" file. User has already tried uninstall and re-install AutoCAD, updating windows, using another font type in AutoCAD. replacing missing font, and issue still persist. Need issue to be resolved ASAP. Thank you.

That's not an application error. That's just missing content that file(s) needs, exactly like it says and means.

Also note: an SHX can be a special character file for a custom linetype in that file(s), not necessarily a font file too.

That is an error message only the file creator (or that third party developed detail the user got from the internet, or that needed font the user left behind on an old PC or in a ZIP file) can fix: seek out or ask for the missing SHX file then install it where that session of AutoCAD/LT looks for it.

If you wish to explore it in more detail, Autodesk has a good article about the topic here https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-cannot-fin...

Does this message occur on all .DWG files when opening or only on specific .DWG files?

If only on specific .DWG files, then it's a .DWG problem and not an AutoCAD program problem.

Uninstalling & Reinstalling AutoCAD does not fix this issue.

Is there any additional information on the message like the name of the SHX files that are missing?

Could you share an example?

This message occurs when opening only specific .DWG files
The name of the missing SHX files is "Chain-link-fence", I have tried to manually add that shape, but the message keeps appearing.

@pendean @paullimapa Please see @sergio_salvadorE6JV5 comment. I posted this issue on his behalf. Thank you.

@sergio_salvadorE6JV5 If you cannot ask the linetype creator for that custom shape file... get rid of the linetype (rename it to one you use then reload all linetypes or use CHECKSTANDARDS command with a template file of yours): you might also need to WBLOCK out the modelspace content to a new DWG file too.

@henry_zhang74ME

This confirms your AutoCAD program is not the problem.

Found this other thread where someone created a fence.shx

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/need-civil-shx-files/m-p/3292319/highlight/true#M16747...

You can try this:

Download fence.zip from that thread , unzip & rename fence.shx to Chain-link-fence.shx and save it to your AutoCAD profile's Support File Search Path location ie.: C:\Users\windows-login-profile\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD 20##\R##.#\enu\support

It may graphically look different but may prevent the message from re-appearing every time you open those problem .DWG files

Thanks for your support.
I will test it out and come back to share feedback.

Hey!
I've tried all the solutions mentioned, but none of them worked I was just able to remove the message error, but the shapes are still missing
I've noticed that all the missing shapes are "lines" In the image, you can see the missing "lines", All the lines should kind of look like the orange or blue one. This happens with almost all the AutoCAD files.
