Problem: PDF print generates strange lines over hatch objects (ACAD 2012 LT)

I have created a logo which is included in all our drawings. The text part of the logo has been created by exploding a text object and hattched the remaining polylines. In in the model view all looks fine but when I print the drawing to PDF some gray lines appear over the text. If I plot the PDF to paper everything looks good, it is only the electronic versions that suffers from this problem. I need the electronic versions to hand out to our costumers so paper is not an option here and the print must look professional.

I have tried the following pdf generators, all with the same result:

Adobe

Autodesks built in DWG to PDF

Bullzip

Cute

I have viewer the result in both Adobe Acrobat 10 and Foxit reader. Both show similar problems. I can not find any solution to this problem. Can anybody help me out here?

I have attached two screenshots. One from the printed PDF and one from autocad model space.

Why not just plot (raster drivers built in) or export directly to JPG or PNG (PNGOUT or JPGOUT commands)?

Unless I'm doing something wrong... When I use the JPEG OUT command, I get my image and the black screen background as well.... When printing as a PDF. Back ground s teen is ignored . . .

You can "print" to a raster driver you create with PLOTTERMANAGER command then set the background to white

I just upgraded form autocad o6 to 2011 and I am having the same problems with solid hatch looking terrible.  When I untick smooth line art it looks great but then when I put the pdf in photoshop the lines are back.  I do a ton of graphic design work and huge art in autocad as well so this is a dire situation for my business.  Is there a way to adjust this in photoshop?  I have also maxed out all my resolutions and tried adobe and cute.   I did not have this problem with the 06 autocad ever.

To be honest I don't think so because The lines are Vector Lines and Photoshop is a Pixel Base program (DPI). So, you could apply a layer of paint of same color as the lines you are trying to get rid of, But if you have a really complex drawing/render/image/etc., it will be really a long and tedious process.

Which I think you are trying to save time here; try to use a different hatch/color/line weight in AutoCAD and export it again.

Good luck.

Sethcapon,
If the end result is getting a great JPEG image (this is what I was trying
to do). I went from dwg => PDF => JPEG

We found someting of a solution (?) Simply import the DWG into Illustrator
and export as a JPEG. We have found the lines pretty much 'go away'.
Otherwise those lines are ALWAYS THERE in other various conversion routes.
I noted that youre still using 2012 LT ? There is 2018 LT now, have the
upgrade button, but haven't used it yet but will be very surprised if those
lines / hatching issues have gone away. Have started 'eyeing' different
CAD packages at this point.

Sorry I couldn't be more help to you. 😕

6 years later, is anyone aware of a fix for this "issue".

Obviously not an issue if solid hatch is solid black, but when it is plotted as a 50% halftone, it is a big problem.

oh yes, it is still an issue as I am now on Autocad LT 2018. still there.
Solid vs halftone not an issue. Quality appearance and how hatch looks is
still an issue.

Interesting - Thanks for pointing to this.  I'll have to give it a try.

I am using AutoCad Lt for Mac 2017, but have been having the same issue as described in this thread.  What is interesting to me is that the diagonals do not appear in the pdf file - only in the output of that file from the printer.  I have used solid hatch before and never seen this issue.

It is apparent that they are the bounding sides of the poche created by a ray trace through the shape being hatched. It seems that there would be a way to turn them off, send them to the back, or have them print with the same value as the fill.

Such are the vagaries of a very complex program.

Thanks for the solution twsmith.

2 hatches, different angles works well.

I just found a very easy solution that I wanted to share with you,

Instead using the standard Adobe PDF printer, use the printer called "AutoCAD PDF (High quality print).pc3"

It worked perfectly to me me,.

Thank You

This worked for me as well- I also changed the background pattern to the same color as the hatch patterns.

Hi @Anonymous,

I am not sure If you ever resolved this issue.

I experienced a similar issue when using the "dwg to pdf" publishing option.

Setting the PDF DPI Settings to a higher DPI somehow increased the number of lines on my solid Hatch (See Image below) for an example on what the line looks line.

GertStrydom_0-1590615418219.png

I then decreased the DPI to Vector: 400dpi and Raster: 300dpi and this resolved my issue.

Regards.
