PRINTING/PLOTTING ISSUES IN AUTOCAD 2016

Anonymous

When I try and print to my HP 500 Plotter I keep getting this error code.

AutoCAD LT Warning

doPDF v7: This plotter configuration cannot be used for one of these reasons: the driver cannot be found, the device cannot be found or the drive has a problem. The none plot device has been substituted.

Never has this issue till we upgrade to AutoCAD 2016

Sounds odd, but here are some things I can suggest to get you headed in the right direction, hopefully. It looks like your OS Printer indexing is off or something. I would recommend a reboot first and see if that resolves the issue. If that fails to resolve it, then I would try printing to the plotter either via a test page from the OS Settings, Not AutoCAD. make sure it is in fact printing to the actual printer and not attempting to redirect to a pdf generator. If that is not the case, then make sure you are selecting an actual printer from AutoCAD and not a Printer config file that points to a pdf generator that is not installed on your computer.

Good luck,

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

The error message indicates that it is trying to use a doPDF driver. I am not familiar with that one. When you started using AutoCAD LT 2016, did you migrate PC3 settings from a previous version?

Do you normally print to PDF first and then send to your HP 500 plotter? If so, please try using the built in PDF drivers (Dwg to PDF, AutoCAD PDF) to create the PDF and then print that to the plotter. Does that work properly?

If you are printing your drawing straight to the plotter, please take a screen capture of your page setup or plot window for your drawing so I can get an idea of what else might be happening.

PLOT settings are file specific: Start PAGESETUP command in the tab in tat file and remove the reference of the doPDFv7 device and replace with your HP500. See if that helps.

OR you are using a PC3 file that someone labelled as HP500 but it's not, it's the doPDFv7 driver?

OR did you use the migration tool to save some time setting up LT2016 from an older version? Do a reset of LT2016 and see if the problem goes away https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

Hi @Anonymous,

The error you showed a doPDF driver is what caused the problem. I suggest (as others have) that you create a new PC3 file to see if that corrects the problem.

Perhaps this other post will help you get started.

I have not tried that. Do I make that file on every machine that is having this issue?

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest that you do this on only one computer to work through any possible issues before you copy it to your other computers.
