Plotting images with color fill

I am having trouble plotting datalinks. I create the link and when I put it in the layout space via a viewport, the table allows things to be viewed which are behind the datalink. This datalink viewport is placed on top of another viewport showing the drawing in model space. I would like the information behind the datalink to be unseen. How do I do this?

Also, if I copy a table made in Excel and put it in the drawing or if I do a PDF underlay, the cells that have been filled with color do not print the fill even though the fill shows up in the print preview. How do I change that?

Problem 1. Create a rectangle using your datalink viewport as the guide in paper space. Hatch the rectangle with color 255. Use CHSPACE command to move the hatch to model space and then DRAWORDER to send it to back.

Problem 2.  Select the spreadsheet and in properties, change it from monochrome to high quality eg. photo

I found that the wipeout command (in help) actually works better in hiding the background image
