Paperspace Zoom Extents

I have AutoCAD LT 2023

I hit Zoom Extents when I was in paperspace on one of my tabs and the layout disappeared.  The screen is grey intead of seeing the titleblock and the viewports I created.  I can't zoom in on anything.  There is an object but I can't zoom into it with a window or anything.

I don't want to recreate this layout as it contains many specific hidden layers that will take a long time to recreate.  Please advise how to get this back.  The rest of the drawing is fine.  Also what did I do to cause this?

I have attached the file.  The tab is Plans A1.1-Detail Plans

It's because you have items on the layout which are way out in paper space. I zoomed into the area of your drawing and selected just the items I could see I then selected everything on that page. Note the number discrepancy in the two images below. You need to get rid of everything which you don't need and then it will zoom properly

@alex_gotthelf How you deal with Zoom EXtents issues ALL THE TIME in AutoCAD regardless of what tab you are every in.

Zoom back to where and what you want to see:

Use CTRL+A to select all in that one tab (in this case the offending layout)

Now hold the SHIFT button down and window to select what you want to keep, then type ERASE and hit tat <enter> button on the keyboard.

I used Zoom Extents in paper space and lost my layout.  I know the layout is there because it shows up when I hover over the layout tab. It also shows up when I print.  The screen is gray when I click on the tab.  No amount of zooming brings it back.  I also tried to copy it and it remains the same.

I have attached my file.  What do I do?

Thanks.

Thank you but I am not able to see what you are showing.  I am not able to zoom into what you have done.  If I could I don't think I would have the problem. Unless something odd got put on the layout I want to keep everything.  Even so,

I don't understand your second instruction about selecting what I want to keep and erasing the rest. I am not able to see what you are showing as selected items.  I see nothing.

I did Ctrl A and it seemed to work but nothing shows up.

Thank you but I don't see the discrepancy.

The screenshot you show appears to be model space.  Yes I have a large area.  But no other layouts are impacted by that large model space area.  My problem is in paperspace and not being able to bring the layout and titleblock into view despite it being there when I hover over the layout tab and when I print.

Please clarify.

They misread your post: see my reply above this one, you have "something" floating far far away in that layout that you need to delete.

Hi,

>>"I have attached my file."

Right, but not your Xrefs/Attachments! So we can't (know) how it acting on your side.

I guess you have trouble with your (in one drive stored?) .PDF attachments!

If I delete both references, Zoom Extents bring another view

Try it

This is your ARCH D page in that one layout, the dot at the end of the arrow

Why don't you just delete that layout then create a new one from scratch to replace it? This is your final intent anyway, is it not? Other than the fact that everything in that layout is not where it is supposed to be

Yes, I understand that the xrefs are missing. That's a problem with this type of support.  Does it help to know that all other layouts are working properly?  It's just this one layout in paper space.  The views you are showing look like model space so it's confusing what you are diagnosing.  The gray surrounding all this is what I am seeing and none of the model space drawings that you are showing appear.  I was trying to avoid it, but I think I have to recreate the layout.  I was trying to avoid this.  The turning on and off layers is fairly extensive.  I wish I knew what was going on so I could avoid it in the future.  Thank you anyway.  (unless you have another idea)

Are the pdfs missing on your side too,

or do you have both .pdf (I am talking about this Layout only, not about model or other layouts.

You don't need to recreate the layout, just fix your pdf attachments on this layout tab.

Why you can see all the things: bescause you don't look at the right position with the eight zoom level.

For example: Zoom to 0,0 and 1000,600

and you will see all the stuff.

Do this: Delete both pdf attachment on this layout (use command QSELECT)

test Zoom extents now, it will work, right?

and place your pdf again, if needed.

That's all part of your Layout (Paperspace)!

It looks like at one time all objects from model copied to this paperspace,

incl. both pdf underlays - what prevent a succesful Zoom Extents in this Layout.

@alex_gotthelf I said note the number discrepancy. Even though I was only zoomed in to the items I assumed you wanted. The first image was only those selected and showed approximately 5500 items. The second image is everything selected in paperspace and shows approximately 6250 items. See the red ringed areas in the image below

I never mentioned XREFs, why are you talking about them? My screenshot is from what you shared in the one problem layout, I'm not going to worry about what you opted not to share, that's on you.

I know, that's what my screenshot shows you, and why I circled the layout name in my screenshots in the last reply. Are you not understanding the images being shared with you? are you even looking at my screenshots from the one problem layout you wanted fixed?

I reposted your file in my last reply with your one single problem layout fixed. Did you miss that too? I already fixed it. yes, the one single layout where you or someone with access to your file decided to copy/paste everything from modelspace into that one layout.
