Offset tool

I am new to Auto cad and self teaching my self from scratch , so using tutorials on you tube , I am using the 2019 cad light version , my question is (there will be many more) about the offset button when i draw a circle or a triangle or similar i use then the offset button to repeat this at a given distance , in the tutorials it shows this very easily but the problem i am having is that when i select my off set the try to select where i would like it to be off set the rectangle circle deletes if I want several off sets they appear but the original disappears  , in the tutorials which are from earlier versions of cad do not do this ?

Do you have the command line visible? If not, enable it, dock it and stretch it so that at least 3 lines are visible. It sounds like you are missing seeing the options for the OFFSET command. One of those options is whether or not the source object will be erased.

I restarted auto cad and it reset things but your info helps , i now know that i can do this , and I am sure this will be the same with other commands thank you again
