Object invisible while using SCALE

Hello,

In some drawings, when I use the SCALE command, the object i am scaling turns invisible, thus making it really hard to scale.

I don't know whats causing this and I haven't been able to find anything about this online.

What version of LT are you using? Whichever version you're using have you updated it with the latest patches?

If you have screencast (Download Autodesk Screencast | Search | Autodesk Knowledge Network) can you do a screencast of what is happening and post it so we can have a look.

At the command line type DRAGMODE. Change it to ON / AUTO

This doesn't fix the problem for me.

The only other thing I can suggest is a repair reinstall, as DRAGMODE is the command which shows you the object scaling. This was tested out on LT2016

Some drawings only? Share one of them here, explain how to replicate the issue on an object in there that misbehaves for you too.

Is there a way to repair/reinstall while keeping my settings? I don't want to have to input all of my file paths etc. again.

I've tried on multiple drawings now, it seems to not work on any of them. So maybe i am remembering wrongly.

Backup your settings (you should always be doing that anyway regardless unless you enjoy pain that can be avoided), here is how https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-i...

I just reinstalled without importing my settings back in, but nothing seemed to have changed?

I thought it would be like a fresh install of autocad.

Correct, that's by design.

If you want a fresh installation, you need to do all of this (second half of page) https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Recommen...

Do you think this might solve the problem if the "soft reinstall" didn't fix it?

I doubt it but if you feel strongly about it then go ahead. What have you tried so far?
What is COMMANDPREVIEW set to? Look up usage in HELP, set it to the default listed.
You might as well ensure PROPERTYPREVIEW is also set to the default while you are at it.
Have you turned off hardware acceleration in GRAPHICSCONFIG command yet? Worth a test.

When I am less busy, I will try a complete reinstall.

COMMANDPREVIEW is set to 1 by default.

PROPERTYPREVIEW is set to on.

Turning off hardware acceleration doesn't fix the problem.

I did a complete reinstall and it was fixed.

Then I imported my settings and the problem is present again now.

So it has to be an error in my settings.

That narrows it down: all you have to figure out is which setting(s) triggered it, consider recreating your setup from scratch, see if that brings up something we all missed here.

I tried the DRAGMODE command again and setting it to AUTO fixed the problem now although i could've sworn it didn't work when I tried it yesterday 😵 . Maybe it had to do with the reinstall as well, who knows.

Edit: ON doesn't work. Only AUTO does.
