I am a green-horn new autocad user.  I was working with a drawing today and I did something that made my toolbars all disappear (the toolbar that has all the draw commands, etc in it at the top of the screen).  Now I am dead in the water with no way to operate the software.  Anybody out there have any  idea about how I can fix this?

It could be one of several things, try typing 'ribbon' this brings back the ribbon at the top of the screen. It could be the menu type 'menubar' and at the prompt enter '1'. It could actually be a toolbar in which case '-toolbar' followed by 'draw' and then 'show' would bring that back. Or maybe you accidentally pressed 'Ctrl+0' (cleanscreen) which removes most tools 'Ctrl+0' is a toggle so it will turn things back on again.

Or post a screenshot to see if we can work out what is missing.

Hi,

I think you must have accidentally closed the ribbon. Type in the command "RIBBON" to bring it back.

Thanks for getting back to me Steven G.  I tried all of your suggestions and  now I've forgotten which one it was but one of the first two got me a ribbon with boxes that pop open when I hover over them.  The box that opens shows all the draw symbols I used to see contiuously on the menubar/toolbar (I don't yet understand the different names of these bars)  So where I use to be able to just mouse up and hit the, say, circle command now I have to hover over the "draw" box so the various draw commands become visible.  This work for me so I'm not dead in the water anymore, but I would like to get them back to the original factory setting.....not sure how to do that.

Again thanks!

Try this:

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Type 'ribbon' to make sure the ribbon is on, if you are getting a drop-down effect then try clicking a couple of times on the arrow highlighted in this image, it cycles through various options for the ribbon.

Oops @RobDraw beat me too it 😁
