Network location for Design Centre

Gentlemen,

We have just installed AutoCAD LT 2017 onto our computers in work. Part of the process of migrating to AutoCAD is to use standard drawing overlays and standard blocks.

I know how to direct the computers to a network location for the templates but I was planning on using the Design Centre for the standard blocks. However my limited experience tells me that the design centre is on the local machines. Is there a way to direct our machines to a network location for the design centre?

Similarly is there a way to set a network location for the ctb plot file?

There is a favourites Icon in the Design Center. It's  the one to the left of the HOME icon.

If you paste a shortcut to the location of the drawing you want them to use in the following location C:\Users\"Username"\Favorites\Autodesk. It will appear in the favourites section.

Obviously "Username" needs to be changed. Mine is Howard.

Thanks for the reply. I am responsible for producing the blocks and the templates for AutoCAD. I am not power mad but I am aware that the templates and blocks should be able to accessed by the others without being editable. Therefore, whilst I want the templates etc accessible, if the wish to make adaptations I don't want them to be to the standard details that everyone else uses.

If they can access these areas through the favourites will that mean they can permanently adapt the originals?

Also, how can I make the ctb files accessible from a network location? Again, I don't want to block this entirely but the company standard I wish to have uneditable.

Make the drawing READ ONLY for everyone except you. You'll need to look up setting file permissions in Windows.

For the CTB files

OPTIONS

Click on the FILES tab. Open up the PRINTER SUPPORT PATH tree. Open up the PLOT STYLE SEARCH PATH. And there you can ADD your network path.

I blimmin knew that too. the only thing is that it has to be done on each machine, cant be done remotely.

If you point CAD Design Center to your network location, and add Windows shortcuts to that location back to the local design centre you can have both network and local 

\\Network\Company Design Center

\\Network\Design Center Content

Below you see global & metric OOTB Design Center (on user c drive) along with our network custom content (both group and local office specific)

AutoCAD is pathed to \\\Library\DesignCenterACA2017 64 which only contains shortcuts
