Moving 2011 LT to a different computer

My works computer is due for a change and I have to transfer 2011 LT across.

I know I have to obtain a new activation code but I don't have the original installation disc to load.

Can this be done without the disc or is  an upgrade required?

Thank you kindly.

Read this about Windows 10 if thta is what is going to be on your new PC  http://autode.sk/1IY4C2X

Older software like LT2011 are not available as downloads from Autodesk: But the Autodesk Customer Care team may (or may not) be able to help you get the link/info you need. Please contact the team by clicking here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/contactus/downloads-upgrades/finding-download?_ga=1.181347812.2126739...

Sarah,

I have LT2011 on a old (W7 64B) computer and need to transfer my settings to my new computer (W7 64B) with LT2015 on it.  How do I do this?

There is no automated ability to do that: what "settings" are these that you want from the old version on the old PC?

Have you run the AutoCAD LT 2015 trial already?

This could be an option for you to test.

  • Install the newer version of AutoCAD in trial mode on the old system. Use the Virtual Agent
  • Migrate settings to that version as you install.
  • On the Start menu, use the Export [product_name] Settings option under the Migrate Custom Utilities menu to export those settings.
  • Copy the resulting ZIP file to the new computer.
  • Import the settings using the Import [product_name] Settings option under the Migrate Custom Utilities menu.

Let me know if that works. I'm sure others will be posting there suggestions here shortly.

I uninstalled LT2015 yesterday on the old computer. I tried installing
(using my CD) it again in trial mode on the old computer and there was an
error. Autodesk Desktop App did show up on desktop.

Not a problem.

Just to make sure, did you get what you needed? I was a bit confused by the post.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

No, I cannot reinstall 2015 (trial) on my old computer to migrate settings
from 2011 to 2015. Any ideas?

Can you export your settings from 2011 and post them here? I can see if I can import them on my end to help you out.

Toolbars are stored in tjhe CUI file in LT2011. Go find it, grab it, put on a thumbdrive, open CUI command in LT2015, hit the transfer tab, find the tumbdrive file, drag and drop between there and 2015's menu.

What else needs to move over?

OR... you need to install 2011 on the new PC then, export 2011's settings from the old PC to a zip file, hope all is captured, put on a thumbdrive, transfer on the new PC, start 2011, import those settings. when all if working well, start LT2015 and "migrate".

PS: are you sure recreating the toolbars you need in LT2015 would not be simpler and quicker?

I searched for a .CUI file and found many .CUIX files. Any idea which one
I need?

OPTIONS command in LT2011
FILES tab
Expand the CUSTOMIZATION FILES section
Expand MAIN CUSTOMIZATION FILE section
There is full path to the CUI file your LT2011 session is using.
