Monochrome printing not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am trying to print out of the model space.  I am using a window and the plotter I have selected is the DWG To PDF.pc3.  In my plot style table I have selected monochrome.stb.  When the file saves it shows up in full color.  How do I get it to print in just black and white?

I have tried the BlackandWhite.stb and have the same problem.

I have also tried to use my BlueBeam PDF plotter and my actual printer (Brother Multi-Funtion), switched off the color to Black and White through the Properties and selected monochrome.  This gets me a greyscale, but not Black and White.  If I leave the color alone and select monochrome.stb it will print in color.

I do NOT want grey scale, I WANT Black and White.

Please help as I am beyond frustrated.  Thank you.

check out your PLOTSTYLE property of your layers,

resize the column width or try a right-click, perhaps the column is turned off.

It is OFF default (how stupid)

And this:

CADffm_0-1669931539413.pngCADffm_0-1669931539413.png

is saying that the current plot style is set to "Style_1", that means each new object will refer to Plotstsyle "Style_1" instead "ByLAyer".

(would work, but you want to controle the plotstyle by layer, so it isn't a good setting)

Change that by CPLOTSTYLE

@xsmiv007 The MAC forum is over here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac/ct-p/4051
So all of our screenshots are going to be different than yours (concept remains the same).

In your posted file, in LAYER command for us (you are not seeing everything in yours, you have a column turned off) , you have NORMAL set

Is this person asking for help?  Yes.   It would be worlds of help if you could just answer the question.  What if this person IS learning how to use this software and has just now bumped into ACAD for MAC's bizarre OEM setup that apparently thinks hiding basic functionality that has existed for DECADES in easy to use dialogue boxes, behind software menu rabbit-hole.  I have been professionally using AutoCAD for thirty years, and to have to come on this forum with a simple question regarding why I cant just pick MONOCHROME plot style and expect it to actually print in monochrome.  Maybe that's what you're trying to do?  I don't know, but it's a waste of everyone's time and energy to have to deal with.  This is a stupid problem to have to deal with.  I have personally attempted to make this work through multiple different manipulations and avenues of approach, and nothing is working.  ALL of my plots are STILL coming out as color NO MATTER WHAT I DO.  so if you have a simple, concise, clear, easy answer, I'd love to hear it.

I don't like your post, but I want to help.

1. As you read above, this MAC forum is the next door, MAC and WIN version is not the same.

2. MONOCHROME, ctb or stb?

The issue is, your objects are not assign to a plotstyle which plot black.

Share a sample dwg and we can show you the issue & solution

Too many words mixed with judgement, humiliation and pride. One sentence straight to the point would have sufficed.

Hello everyone.
My name is Iryna and English is not my first language.

I asking for the help! My AutoCAD 2024 got a same problem on the layout, plotting from the " window". Applying greyscale or monochrome it is still saving PDF in colors..
I had read comments and try to apply suggestions to my drawings. Unfortunately, had no success. I am attaching my CAD file. Please help me to solve out problem and learn how to work with this issue.

Thank you.

See attached @isato1 all I did was use PUBLISH command on all of your layouts and changed nothing, I seem to only get monochrome for your 2D linework.

Same when i just PLOT each layout: maybe your MONOCHROME plot style table has been edited to not be?

Your modelspace is not set up to PLOT and you have shademode set to hidden so that will never plot monochrome (change shademode to 2D if you are trying to PLOT from there).

For anyone who is working with his/her colleges on the same file, check if they haven't  changed the settings in the Plot Style Table Editor. This was the case for me. I had to manually check all 255 indexed colors and change the property back to 'black'.

Guess what" In my drawing "plotstyle" is grayed out! I have had it with this bad program.

Plot to BlueBeam PDF and one click to change to monochrome and plot. Simple. So sad the idiot programmer geeks are ACAD could not simplify this a hundred years ago.

You just did not know the difference between STB and CTB and that a DWG file cannot be both at the same time. Nothing has changed in 25+years.

Your current DWG file is set to CTB. You're used to only using STB. Nothing more is going on.

Read this from Autodesk on your exact error:
