Missing text when plotting to PDF

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

I've completed a basic drawing which contains Mtext paragraphs and bullet points, when plotting to PDF over half of the text is missing? I have checked all the options are the same across different text sections and looked at a few online forums, however nothing seems to help? if I delete the text and redo it then its ok..

Attached in the screen shot in CAD and also the PDF I get.

I'm sure this is something simple and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Without the DWG file, we're just guessing.

Could be on a no-plot layer, or the fonts are not being captured into the PDF file, or other things.

Before you print, run the command PREVIEW. Does it look okay there?

What PDF driver are you using? it's not from Autodesk.
What is your LT version?

side note: learn to use the Windows built in SNIPPING TOOL to grab screenshots and save them to raster images: it's not 1999 anymore (unless you are still using Windows XP or NT4 or Win95/98) and placing them in DOC files means fewer people will try to help you http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use-snipping-tool-capture-screen-shots

Okay, if things are missing from the preview, then they are not going to show up on a print.

So it's not your PDF driver or other print related settings.

Hello @Anonymous,

Make sure your annotations are set properly, you're not on def point, and you're not on a no-plot layer. If all three fail, move to another layer.

Hi @Anonymous,

If you continue to have an issue with your text showing up in plot preview and in your PDF it might be easier for the users and myself to get a sample of the drawing to get a better idea of the issue and it might save you some time.

Post back if none of the suggestions work.

Highlight the non-printing text and look at what layer it's on. Check that layer in the layer manager dialogue box to see if it is a non-print layer.

Following up on this thread, I haven't heard back if you were able to try the suggested steps.

Please post back in the thread if you are still having an issue with AutoCAD the community and myself will be more than happy to help.

I really don't think its a layer issue, with my problem anyway. If it was a layer problem wouldn't all of the text box not publish?

The text box reads "Dimensions of miscellanous items if applicable" in the model. What is printed in the PDF is "Di  ensions of   iscellaneous ite  s if applicable.". If I copy and paste the text from the PDF all the letters paste when I paste it. So they are not completly missing, they are just "printed in invisible ink". I have had this problem with a certain line type a few months ago...

I split the project in half and everything printed just fine. I guess $400 a year only gets you the version that can't handle a 120 page PDF...

This was the solution that helped for me. My text was on a layer called Anno-nplt (nplt stands for no plot).

That fixed it! It didnt help with all the other stuff I changed in the process of getting to the solution. This should be the first thing you try.
