The issue is not drawing specific. It is the case that AutoCAD generally is very slow to start up, typically taking over 3 minutes to open. There is then a time lag between selecting a tool bar option, say file > open or tools and it takes typically 20-30 seconds for a dropdown menu of a subsidiary window to open. If the user (or administrator it works the same irrespective) invokes the application by way of 'opening' a drawing from within a folder the application and drawing within it opens in just over 30 seconds, even with large (20MB) files. If having opened AutoCAD by this route you go to access a toolbar option they are visible immediately.
