I've been getting fatal errors for years.  I've sent hundreds of error reports with my e-mail address and descriptions.  I have yet to get a reply from Autodesk.  I believe all the humans have been replaced by accountants and sales reps.  Last error report today was CER_164525136

HI @Anonymous,

The CER that you have submitted is for data collection for the development team and is not connected to technical support.  One should not expect a return email or call from this type of data.

At any rate, in looking at your CER report this morning, I see that you are running 12 year old product (AutoCAD LT 2007) and that you have installed in an operating system that it was not designed to run within (Windows 7 SP1). Here are the system requirements for AutoCAD LT 2007.

Unfortunately, the report does not give any conclusive reason for your crash.  Can you describe the commands you were using when this crash occurred? Can you also provide for me, a system information file (NFO)?

Saved and closed a drawing using the save icon on the tool bar and double
clicked on the icon on the left of the top toolbar. The toolbar that had
File Edit View Insert etc.

Attempted to open another drawing using File, Open. Crash. This happens
more than twenty percent of the time.

It sometimes happens when I have more than one session open but is not
restricted to that situation.

My problems are two:

The crash issue

The fact that the error reporting indicates that I will receive a
notification by e-mail of the "problem".

I've been waiting for eight years and haven't heard even one notification.

1. Where do you save the files to? And how are you connected to that location if it's not on your PC?
2. If after you save, you stop and count to 10, then go to File>Open, does the recurrence of the crash suddenly go way down? As a test only for a single day.

Hi @Anonymous,

When you are running this version of AutoCAD LT, do you run in any kind of compatibility mode in Windows 7? That might make a significant difference in the behavior.

Also, as Dean requested, please describe where your files are located. Are they on the C: drive or a USB or external drive? Are you using any Cloud services to sync the storage of your files?  Do you have any security software installed that might actually be trying to scan your files while you work?

I agree that the notice from the CER  reporting tool can be misleading. I don't have that older version but we continue to adjust the language of the message to reduce confusion for our customers.  It truly is only to let the application crash report the conditions at that time and log in a database so we can analyze them.

Files are either on C: or a server drive. No compatibility mode.
Generally LT runs well. I have a few eerie problems stretching hatched
figures from time to time but generally do not seem to have any issues with
compatibility.

Hi @Anonymous,

The compatibility mode might resolve the issues you are describing.  Is it possible to try for an hour or two to see if it makes a difference?

And just how do I try the compatibility mode? I've noticed it only dies
when I close the last drawing open. If I have several open and close one
only to open another, nothing untoward happens. When I close all the
drawings, even if I count slowly to ten before I attempt to open a new file,
it dies.

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest rt-clicking the desktop Shortcut for your application and then selecting Properties. Then you can select the Compatibility tab to see your options.

Capture.PNG

It should look something like this image.

I believe that there is also an option in the operating system itself to run XP Compatibility session which is basically a virtual machine.
