Layer & sub-layer

does it exist? So that when you freeze a layer, all the sublayers are also frozen but when you freeze a sublayer - the other sublayers stay on?

.... are you even looking at the LAYER pop-up in AutoCAD/LT friend? Do you see any 'sub' layers set up? Notice instead how they are all 'equal'? You can buy a 3rd party add-on that fakes what you need. Google it. -- Dean Saadallah Add-on products for LT http://www.pendean.com/lt --

Set up your layer names in groups using prefixes or suffixes and then use layer commands that use wildcards in toolbars or just from the command line. For example, here I turn off all of my dimension layers: Command: -la -LAYER Current layer: "2x4-Frame" Enter an option [?/Make/Set/New/ON/OFF/Color/Ltype/LWeight/Plot/Freeze/Thaw/LOck/Unlock/stAt e]: off Enter name list of layer(s) to turn off or

Okay...I tried recover, and audit. I tried renaming the .bak file (to a .dwg file) and opening. I looked for a SV$ file under windows temp, and there was none. Any other suggestions for salvaging a file? I've had SOOOO many problem w/ this one. I haven't had a file crash like this since Acad 14!!!! This one crashed 4x in the last 4 days, so I opened a new file and copied only what I needed. It lasted a few days, and then crashed again, when I opened it today...no warning. Recover doesn't work. DDinsert doesn't work either. Here's the info upon start-up: Internal error: !U:\global\inc\dbqspace.h@386iePermanentlyErased Error handler re-enter. Exiting now When I tried recover, it states: Valid objects 14,516 Invalid 0 Validating objects completed Used contingency data Salvaged database from drawing then it freezes completely (the entire Acad2002 program in addition to just this one file) I also went back to Win98 system recover, in case something changed over the last week...no difference. Same problems, same errors. HELP...(please) Not only in recovering file (I have a backup from yesterday), but wondering how to stop further crashes. It's getting old. Thanks.

Hello,
So are you saying that with Autocad I cannot create a sublayer for a given layer without an add-on?

Thanks

AutoCAD does not do 'sub-layers', never has. Are you looking to use
Layer States instead? Explained in HELP if you want to explore.
