Importing AutoCAD LT 2014 into Solidworks 2013

I am trying to open a building layout with many layers in Solidworks 2013.  I have tried to copy the layout and paste into solidworks, but that doesn't work.  I also downloaded Draftsight to open the CAD file, but I can't seem to save it as a usable dwg or dxf to open as a 2D image in Solidworks.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does Solidworks open DWG files?

Why would you copy/paste between two very different CAD programs like that? That only works between programs that are designed to do so.

After some testing the copy/paste feature does work, but again with blurry lines. Without the option to bring the file in, why wouldn't you try it?
