How to change back the keyboard commands/ shortcuts

I have been using Autocad since 2006 where you need to type in all the commands (I was still in uni back then and now I am working). Apparently, without any reason at all, the keyboard commands have changed, ie. X- became Xline instead of Explode, DAL for dimaligned is not working anymore, EX became Explode when it used to be Extend etc. Why did autocad think this is acceptable? Years and years of using these commands and suddenly it doesn't work anymore. You are making my work more difficult. No wonder our company is shifting to a diff software. Autocad sucks.

It hasn't changed, maybe someone at the company made alterations to the pgp file try opening the pgp file and go down to the bottom of the list to see if any user options have been added. If you make any alterations don't forget to use the reinit command to make them active.

@Anonymous you can change the shortcuts to anything you want anytime you want, here is how https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2020/ENU/AutoCAD-LT/files/GUID-FE9AE544-F537-4D3B-8F75-B76484513787-htm.html

You can even do more if you wish to become a true power user , like this https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2020/ENU/AutoCAD-LT/files/GUID-9970E91B-A4F5-405C-99C1-46AD804A8858-htm.html

>>>...Why did autocad think this is acceptable?...<<<
Now you know better.

Thanks for your reply. But when I type the acadlt.pgp it says "unknown". Where the hell could it possibly have gone? I haven't slept because I cannot finish my work and this is really frustrating as it affected my pace and work flow.

Did you look at the web page I linked to above the command you want is "AI_EDITCUSTFILE" followed by "acadlt.pgp"

Or using windows explorer you can find it here "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2022\R28\enu\Support". And then the link provided by @pendean explains what to do.

Hi Steven! Thanks so much for your reply. I really truly appreciate it. I just went to options> support file search file > then i added this  "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD LT 2022\R28\enu\Support" and it worked. It went back to the default shortcuts which I am more familiar with! Thanks so much to you and @pendean 😘

Hey There

I think most of us are feeling difficulties in changing keyboard commands shortcuts.

My company just transitioned to Acad LT 2024, and I needed immediately to look into the issue with keyboard comments.  While I appreciate the links and articles, is it just possible to get the simple, bullet point procedure (all in one post, without having to look up nested links and articles) of how to get the keyboard comment settings I had before when I was using Acad 2018.  I have my migration files handy.  Just need to know what migration file needs to go where to get my production back on track.

Going forward, when it comes to migration of custom settings, PLEASE make improvement #1 having a much more simple+robust single-click, idiot-proof migration capability that does not care what product release you used before, or whether you still have it on your computer, but defaults to using all of one's old settings.  Our work is the Architecture and Engineering.   There is no moment without a deadline.   Troubleshooting and going thru old posts means we are losing thousands of dollars an hour.  Those who have been using AutoCAD for a long time have curated our settings for maximum efficiency within dozens of settings spread out over various commands tuned sometimes over decades.  When the latest version of AutoCAD is installed it is essentially useless until these items are restored.  PLEASE MAKE THIS PRIORITY ONE IN THE FUTURE.

Thanks

No one at Autodesk's AutoCAD development team is in these forums at any regular interval, and the chances of them stumbling on your post is ever more rare.

Here is where requests for changes get noticed, help yourself often and regularly instead https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback
