How do you scale multiple blocks without moving them? (2D)

Hi,

Extremely new here as you can probably guess.

I'm having real difficulty trying to simply enlarge some blocks in place (~25). When using the SCALE command, the blocks change their position (the distance between them) as their size increases, meaning that I'd need to individually move them all back into place afterwards.

I've heard that using the OSNAP CENter command should help, but everytime I try it, AutoCAD ignores the prompt and still asks for a base point to scale from.

I've also tried to edit the block template, but each block has text in, and so every time I scale the block up (even when selecting all) the text remains where it was, at original size and now sitting in the bottom left of the block as opposed to in the centre. The text options remain set to 'middle center' regardless, although they seem to do the opposite of what the claim whenever I use them anyway.

Attached two screencaps - the first is in the Block Editor after I've scaled up the block, showing centered text, the second once I've saved the block and exited the Block Editor showing the blocks as they now appear in the drawing.

Where am I going wrong?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If the blocks all have the same name you can use QUICKSELECT to select all of them, then open the properties pallet and you can change the scale thru there. That way the insertion point will stay the same for each block.

PROPERTIES command, select the blocks, change their scale.

Autocad LT

Hi,

I have a similar problem with dynamic blocks.

These are symbols for wiring and each ones have lines (cables) connected, so it is important to stay fixed and not moved from connection.

So I made 4 visibilities with 4 scale actions for each connection side (left, right, down, up).

When I use grip for individual scale it works great but if I use Properties for multiple scaling all blocks are scaled from centre, not from the base point that I made for every scale action. So their sides are moving.

When you place hundreds of symbol and you must change the scale is hard because you must adjust all lines.

If I'll move the scale base point to UCS, in block editor, for each visibility it will work but it will change position at every new insertion with different visibility.

Attached the drawing with d and d1 (with UCS moved) blocks.

Is it other way to scale multiple blocks and keep standing one side?

Thank you!
